Overview

This week, we acknowledge two major dates of significance to bring awareness to mental health. That's why, for those of you in the midst of semester madness, it is important to remember to take the time to care for yourselves.

While we often talk about mental health in a personal way, it is often impacted by systemic influences. These can vary from the social, economic, and cultural.

MONSU Peninsula's Welfare Crew is dedicated to providing programs and support to Monash Peninsula Students that improve their general wellbeing at a systemic level. This includes improving food security through free food initiatives, promoting and creating opportunities for social engagement, finding and connecting students with support services, and promoting activities that encourage mindful practice.

Our Wellness Lounge program aims at providing students an opportunity to unplug from their busy schedules temporarily and engage in some relaxing activities, as well as an opportunity to spend time with their friends.

This month we are learning how to journal. Whether you are a prolific scribe, or always wanted to have a go but didn't know where to start, everyone is welcome to join in. We have a pile of blank journals, free for you to personalise and decorate, as well as prompts and inspiration for those of you wanting to take up the practice.

Journaling is a great self-care practice as it provides a way to reflect on the things we are grateful for, helps build a sense of contentment, and improve our self esteem.

Join your MONSU Welfare Crew in the Seahorse to feed both your soul and tummy with some mindfulness and free lunch.
