Club Training

Compulsory Training Sessions for Committee Members

Committee members in the top 4 executive positions are required to attend a training session.  At training the requirements of the position will be explained, you will be given information about how to meet these requirements and provided with resources to assist you.

Club Officials Training

  • Will be held on Tuesday 14th Feb 2017. If you cannot attend this session, you will need to arrange a make-up session.
  • Mid year Training for Club officials will be held in Week 2 & 3 of Semester Two.

Certificate Courses

Clubs and Societies often hold events that involve the provision of food and alcohol. In order to be aware of your legal obligations and meet the duty of care to your members, we recommend that at least one member of your committee have the following qualifications.

If you attended these courses independently they would cost between $60 to $85 each.  At MONSU Peninsula, we are able to offer them to you at a significant discount, at around $40 to $45 each.

These Certificates are recognised by the hospitality industry and are required if you want to work at a venue that serves food and alcohol, so they can help you get a job too!

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate

The course covers topics such as:

  • Legal requirements of the sale and service of alcohol
  • Harm minimisation and duty of care
  • Anticipating problems and managing patrons
  • Assess and monitor the levels of intoxication of patrons
  • Advise patrons on standard drinks and the effects of alcohol.
  • 3 hour course including assessment

This program is nationally accredited as (THHBFB09B) Provide responsible service of alcohol by the Australian National Training Authority.

Food Safety Handler Level 1 Certificate (FSH1)

This course covers topics such as:

  • Correct storage tempreatures
  • Dealing with danger foods
  • Personal hygiene for food handlers
  • Cleaning food preperation areas
  • Prevention measures in the kitchen
  • Pest control
  • Safe food handling

This program is nationally accredited as ‘Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures’ (THHGHSO1B) by the Australian National Training Authority.

These training sessions are open to non-club members and will be advertised around campus, so bookings are essential. Bookings for training sessions can be made at the MONSU Service Desk.
