Queer DepartmentNOTE: We take your requests for anonymity seriously. University is a chance for many queers to shed their Hetero masks and live a free and happy life. The path of ‘coming out’ to friends, family and colleagues is often fraught with obstacles and trepidation. The Queer Department has three key areas of activity; support, representation & social. SupportIf you are curious, unsure or questioning then come along and have a chat to the Queer Officer. They can hook you up with reading information, social support or even direct you to free counselling if you want more comprehensive support. RepresentationIt is easy for many persons, even those who a queer friendly, that we do not live in an exclusively heterosexual world. Queer representation engages the union, university, local and national bodies, to ensure that we are treated equally and without discrimination. SocialHappy with yourself? Don’t wanna get political? That’s fine, then come a long to one of the social events. These events allow queers to get out and about by visiting prominent queers venues, movie festivals and karaoke nights.
